Mr Jimnah Mbaru,B.Com(Hons), MBA, LLB(Hons), MKIM
Chairman-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks.

Mr. Jimnah Mbaru is the Chairman of Dyer and Blair Investment Bank, as well as Dyer and Blair (Uganda). He is the Chairman of Jitegemee Trust (Kenya), Africa Consulting Group and Nairobi Equator Hospital. He has been the Chairman of Nairobi City Council Interim Oversight Board (2000–2002) and Executive Chairman of the Nairobi Stock Exchange (1992–2001). He has also been a Director of Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC), Occidental Insurance Company, AIG Global Investment Company (East Africa) and British American Insurance Company. He has served on various boards including Alternative Dispute resolution Centre, Nairobi, and the faculty of Commerce University of Nairobi. He has been a member of The National Economic and Social Council (NESC), Advisory Council, University of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa, Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). He has been an Advisor to the Government of Botswana, the Rwanda Stock Exchange, the Dar-es-Salaam Stock Exchange and the Uganda Securities Exchange. He is a Consultant for the Economic Commission for Africa.

He has published books and dissertations including “Transforming Africa: New Pathways to Development”, “Capital Markets and Economic Development: Law, Bond Market and Securitization in Emerging Markets: Challenges and Prospects for Kenya”, and “The Mobilization of Domestic Financial Resources for Economic Commission for Africa”. He has undertaken consultancy work with various organizations including Banks, African Governments, the World Bank, African Stock Exchanges, African Central Banks, and the Economic Commission for Africa.

His fields of expertise are in Institutional Building, Management and Economic Consultancy, Fund Management and Human Capacity Building. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB, Hons), University of Nairobi, a Master in Business Administration (MBA); IMD (Lausanne) and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com, Hons), University of Nairobi.

Mr. Amish Gupta
Vice Chairman Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Amish is an award-winning investment banker who has been involved in securities trading and transaction advisory services in capital markets in Kenya and Eastern Africa for over 16 years. He has completed over 40 transactions valued at over USD600 million (Kshs 50 billion). He has been involved in IPOs, Public Rights Issues, Public Bond Offers, Privatizations, Private Placements, Mergers & Acquisitions, Financial Restructuring, ESOPs and General Financial Advisory. He has trained on Securitizations/PPPs and is currently interested in financing the Mining Industry. He is Director-Investment Banking, Standard Investment Bank Ltd, is a Board Member of Kenya Association of Stockbrokers & Investment Banks. He was involved in the development of the current Kenyan Capital Markets Master Plan. He was previously associated with Renaissance Capital (Kenya) Ltd and SBG Securities Ltd (formerly CFC Financial Services Ltd), Kenya.

Mr. Lucas Otieno
Secretary-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Lucas Otieno is an Executive Director at Faida Investment Bank Limited. He was previously the CEO of African Alliance Kenya Securities for 6 years and was the Head of Corporate Business and Fixed Income Securities at CFC Financial Services limited and has been in the financial services sector for over 14 years. He was also a former Board Member of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), where he served as a member of various committees; Chairman of the Business Centre Committee and a member of the Trading and Surveillance Committee, Audit Committee, among others.

Lucas is an honours graduate of the University of Windsor, Ontario Canada in Business Administration and Economics, with a major in Finance.

Miss Catherine Karita
Treasurer-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Catherine is the General Manager of NIC Securities a subsidiary of NIC Bank Group. She joined NIC Securities in January 2013 and oversees the management of the stockbroking business and leads in the distribution and placement of primary issues.  Prior to her appointment, Catherine was the head of Corporate and Institutional Sales at CfC Stanbic Financial Services Limited where she was charged with growing the Institutional business and market share of the local and foreign investors. She has 6 years’ experience in the Capital markets. She has been instrumental in the distribution of new equity and debt capital deals in the markets. She is also involved in creating financial awareness and a savings culture particularly among the youth. Her expertise spans across providing financial advisory, business expansion and relationship management.

Catherine has also worked for Bank of America in Maryland, USA in sales and relationship management. She holds a Bsc. Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and an MBA concentration Finance from the University of Baltimore.

Mr John E. Kirimi
Director-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Mr. Kirimi B.Com (Hons.), CPA (K), CPS (K), FCCA has served in various senior capacities in both Finance and General Management. He served on the boards of Kenya Commercial Bank and the Motor Trade and Allied Employers Association and is a former Senior Treasurer of the Nairobi University Council, Trustee Nairobi University Pensions Scheme and Chairman of its Investment Committee.

He is executive director of Sterling Capital Ltd.

Mr. Kirimi is the immediate former Chairman of the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks.

Hon Dennis Waweru
Director-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Dennis is the executive authority in the day to day running of Faida Investment Bank. He has over sixteen years experience in Investment Advisory and Portfolio Management. He has been instrumental in ensuring the implementation of various Exchange initiatives that have sustainably grown the Stock Market.

Dennis has been in-charge of portfolio management, Fixed Income and equities and is responsible for building and maintaining institutional and high net worth client relationships. Mr. Waweru oversees the management of the Investment Bank, and heads the marketing and distribution efforts in all public capital markets issues.

He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Moi University and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.

Mr Paul Mwai
Director-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Paul Wachira Mwai is the Chief Executive Officer of AIB Capital Ltd 

Paul has over 20 year experience in Investment banking, having worked in various departments within the Barclays group, including Barclays Merchant Finance Ltd (BMFL) and Barclays Dealing Centre, before joining Barclay-trust Investment Services in 1998 as a Fund Manager. He moved to Old Mutual Asset Managers following the acquisition of Barclay-trust by Old Mutual in October 2002 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Asset Allocation Strategist. He joined AIB Capital from African Alliance Investment Bank where he was Chief Executive of the Asset Management Company. Paul has the following;

Mr Donald Wangunyu
Director-Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks

Central Depository System Corporate together decided to switch to one standard Broker Back Office System (BBO). In 2010 Donald was appointed to head the BBO Functionality Management team. His team's initial assignment was to produce an industry wide functionality requirement paper to be used in the purchase of the system. With the adoption of the requirements paper and purchase of the system, Donald and his team is now tasked with overseeing all functional additions and modifications to the BBO. 

Previously, Donald worked at Investors Bank and Trust, USA where he was responsible for implementing upload systems for daily transaction tracking on mainframe, running nightly mainframe valuation and payment processing, conducting daily operations processing tasks among other duties.

Mr. Willie Njoroge
Chief Executive Officer

Willie Njoroge is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks (KASIB), a position he has held for four years. His key responsibilities at the association include spearheading market resurgence and investor confidence, coordination of the investor education program in conjunction with partner institutions and lobbying Government and other stakeholders. He is also the founder of Dot Matrix PR, and Afrocentric Business Consultancy. Willie represents Kenya on the PAN EAC Financial Services Providers Council that brings together financial services providers in countries within the East African Common Market Protocol. He holds a BA (Building Economics) (Hons) and is pursuing a second Degree in Financial Markets.
